Obedient Women
in the wee hours of May 9th, 2007Last night I came across the last few minutes of a program called Hidden Lives - Obedient Women.
According to Mark, the look on my face painted a thousand words.
Of these women portrayed, some said they loved the feelings of vulnerability and dominance and one spoke of feeling more feminine.
These women surrendered and cut up their credit cards. Invariably they worked full time, cooked all meals, kept house…
In one instance, an asian woman’s English husband, the head of the household, invites his mates over for dinner and then they all take off to the pub. This was a regular occurence and he was happily filmed bragging to his friends, while they asked if she had a sister or where can they get one? Fortunately, this kind of primeval behaviour is not common among men.
These women who surrendered to their husbands, relinquished all control on any aspect of their lives, what they wore, or how the children were raised. Why would you allow yourself to be subjugated? These men obviously believe you are not worthy or intelligent enough to decide or do anything without their say so.
Ludicrous! I thought slavery was abolished in the 19th century. This kind of behaviour makes my blood boil.
Women…there’s a difference between being cared and looked after and someone seeking to control you.
