Elixir’s Natural Body Care - Your Blueprint To Beauty

Summer holidays

in the early morning of August 29th, 2007

The summer holidays are almost at an end.  Just 9 more days, and 17 hours and they’ll be back in school.  Not that I’m really counting.

Actually, it has been fun having them around apart from one or two spats and this is where I spat the dummy at the kids and dad.

We have gerbils at the moment, visiting with us and Miss 10 is supposed to be keeping their cage clean and the floor but of course, sawdust gets tracked all over the house  but mostly she stays on top of it with a nudge from me.  There was one occasion however, when I did my charlie at her.  Later that day, she went to a friends house.  When she returned, she came running up the stairs calling for me, to hand me a small wrapped package.

“I got you a present”, she said.
I looked down into her smiling, expectant face and my heart melted.  Oh, these little devils sure know how to worm themselves into my heart.

Taking the small parcel, wrapped in tissue and completely cellotaped, it was an accomplishment just to open, lay a beaded bracelet that she had made at her friends house.

“Look”, she pointed at the coloured beads. “I used ones as close to an Aboriginal design as I could find and it has your name on it.”

I traced the little dark blue beads with my finger which spelled out YOLA.  I placed it on my wrist.

“Its beautiful hon, absolutely beautiful”.  I kissed her cheek and squeezed her tight.  “Thank you sweetheart”.
She still has to clean up after the gerbils, yeah, I’m a hard woman.

Heckyl and Jeckyl, the two youngest twins have made me numerous origami boxes for paperclips or for storing other small bits and pieces.  There are so many special days that will be burned into my memory forever.

So, we all get on exceptionally well, especially when they see it my way lol.  Just kidding, well, mostly kidding.

The biggest challenge my partner and I have had to face, is attempting to work while coming up with ideas to keep the kids entertained and off each others throats.

My neighbour Jan, introduced me to this great place called Re-Create.  Its a mish mash of stuff that Re-Create collects from businesses, who would have otherwise binned imperfect stock.

Browsing the store, I found some foam cut outs, where one side was adhesive.  Perfect for creating their own collage and turning it into placemats, coasters or even a mouse mat.  Hoarding rolls of assorted posters and prints has turned out useful once again. Their artwork didn’t turn out too bad either.  coaster-collage.jpg
