Proper Food Combining
at around evening time of September 9th, 2007It’s been a frenetic week! Meetings, consulting in schools and meeting my B & B deadline for 200 soaps. Phew.
I got a breather over the weekend, so here’s the article I promised you on Food Combining a few days ago.
The Food Combining system is based on the research of Dr. William Howard Hay, who discovered that the body became loaded with toxins due to incomplete digestion, which in turn, lowered resistance against disease.
According to this theory, proteins should only ever be combined with neutral and/or acid foods, whilst starches should only be consumed with neutrals.
Your food needs to be fully digested before your body can be fuelled by absorbing the nutrients it needs.
Starches on the most part, are digested by an alkaline starch splitting enzyme called Ptyalin, which is found in saliva, while proteins and acids are digested in the stomach by an acid gastric enzyme called Pepsin and Hydrochloric Acid.
Problems ensue when incompatible foods such as meat, fish or dairy products, which are all proteins, are eaten with starches such as potatoes, rice or pasta as neither is completely digested because the enzymes responsible for breaking down the food have been destroyed by the blending of incompatible foods and thus, the partially digested food sits in your stomach causing digestive problems.
Starches must have an alkaline environment and proteins an acid one, in order for the enzymes to break down the food effectively.
Why don’t you try it out yourself for a month and see if your health improves?
I’ve included a link to a Food combining Chart for your reference.
You can apply all the lotions and potions to your face and body you want but if you’re not caring for your body from the inside out, the only course of action that will take years off your appearance will be an extreme makeover.
Nourish and nurture your most prized possession and it will reward you with glowing health for the rest of your life.
